Capcom: Monster Hunter 3 heading to Wii due to PS3 development costs
More light has been shed on Capcom's recent decision to bring Monster Hunter 3 to the Nintendo Wii home video game console. Apparently, development costs for the Sony PlayStation 3 played a part in the company's decision.

This was revealed by Katsuhiro Ichii, Capcom's managing corporate officer. Ichii is quoted in a Thompson Financial news report on Hemscott as saying, "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title."

Although Monster Hunter 3's multiplatform status is unclear, Sony still has at least one title in the series - Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G - heading for its PlayStation portable handheld gaming system.

The same reports also quotes Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura as saying that Monster Hunter 3 could bring more teenage players to the Wii fold as the series has a strong fan base in that particular demographic.

Hamamura also noted that the move by Capcom, who has a reputation for creating graphics-intensive titles, could lead to more developers working on Wii titles. The Wii has generally been thought of as unable to handle graphics such as those required by Monster Hunter titles.

Halo 3 Trailer released!
The new Halo 3 trailer has been released. It made it's first airtime on national television 12/04/06 during the Monday night football game which was a great choice in my opinion. The trailer can also be view via Xbox Live Marketplace and on Microsoft's Xbox 360 website. Though the trailer ends with a horrible cliff hanger, making you want to know what happens next, the trailer is beautiful. The graphics are amazing, though it doesnt same much for the game at all, considering the video involves no show of gameplay at all. The only thing this video shows that we havnt seen yet is a fancy new device that seems to place a sheild around the Master Chief for a brief time.

If you dont feel like taking the time to download it over the Xbox Live Market place, or you just dont care if you see it in HD or not, you can view the video at this link I have provided for the lazy:

Sony lists playable PS3, PSP games at TGS
More than two-dozen games for Sony's next-gen system can be played by the general public at next month's event in Japan.

One of the major disappointments at Tokyo Game Show 2005 was the lack of playable games for the PlayStation 3. In fact, there weren't any playable PlayStation 3 games on the show floor last year--only on-stage demos of such titles as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

That won't be the case this year. Sony Computer Entertainment revealed that 27 PlayStation 3 titles will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show. This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo featured significantly fewer playable titles.

TGS, which will be open to the general public for part of its September 22 to 24 run, will let gamers sample a variety of next-generation titles, including high-profile E3 no-shows like Devil May Cry 4. A number of PlayStation Portable games, including several that support the system's upcoming global-positioning system add-on, will also be shown in playable form. Also, the Sony booth will feature a theater at which new video footage of an additional 35 titles will be shown. A preliminary list of titles to be shown follows below.

Mobsters targeting MMOGs. Security engineer warns conference attendees that "organized crime" is selling stolen massively multiplayer online game accounts on the black market.
Players of massively multiplayer online role-playing games spend at lot of time creating their characters. With monthly subscriptions to games like World of Warcraft (paid) and Guild Wars (free) bringing an unending flow of new adventures, players spend hundreds of hours completing quests, accumulating experience, and acquiring gold and items.

As a result, a strong emotional bond between MMORPG players and their characters often forms. So it was unsurprising, then, that more than a little distress was caused by a warning this week from Microsoft that criminal elements are hacking into MMORPGs, stealing MMORPG account information, and selling it on the black market--effectively kidnapping and killing characters

Final Fantasy 7 Now branded as one of the greatest games of all time
The Final Fantasy series is one of the most significant franchises in video game history, responsible for numerous games that were both profound and critically adored. The series is also a veritable road map for how console role-playing games have progressed through multiple console generations, from its birth on the NES to later successes on Sony's consoles. Though fans of the franchise will argue until they run out of breath about which of the many great Final Fantasy games is the best, the name that frequently rises to the top of those discussions is the franchise's most influential game, Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy VII is as good as it is important, but it's perhaps the latter quality that makes it stand out to so many people. It was the game's length and ultimately its file size that made it impossible for SquareSoft to continue its exclusive relationship with Nintendo and its cartridge-based N64 system. Instead, Final Fantasy VII made its debut on three CD-ROMs on the Sony PlayStation, and it featured fully 3D characters on prerendered backgrounds. But it is arguably the FMV cinematics that are most often remembered, the length and power of which gave Final Fantasy VII its potency, and it's what remains at the core of its legacy even now.
